Festival Fashion – Best Looks for Festival Season 2017

Festival season is here and whatever your taste in music is, there is an international festival for you. Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, Burning Man, Governor’s Ball, and Stagecoach headline the biggest music stars and attract celebrities, music lovers, and bloggers alike.  Style counts so you can’t expect to just throw on anything that is comfortable and call it a day.  Yes, the point is to listen to great music and have fun, but make no mistake that how you dress establishes your tribe and your cool factor.  Bloggers plan for months ahead of festive season to have exclusive looks that they typically change three times per day, to be style setters rather than followers.  So making an effort to look edgy/hippie/boho is totally worth it to get the full festival experience.

Consider the climate at the festival you plan to go to, and think about what sort of conditions you will have to deal with when planning your looks.  Coachella is usually warm and sunny, while Glastonbury can be muddy, rainy and chilly.  You can’t enjoy yourself if all you can think about is how over or under-dressed you are, or whether you are wearing the right footwear for standing and dancing all day and night.  Being uncomfortably miserable is not cool.

Here is the Face This hit list to planning your best 2017 festival looks:

Look for florals, fringes, whites, denim cut-offs, gladiator sandals, flowing maxi dresses, lingerie looks with shorts, statement pieces like embroidered jackets, vests or pants, kimono tops, army khaki fatigue jackets with badges and pins, transparent pieces that show off skin, midriff-baring crop tops, and booties that you can dance in.  Accessorize with hats, ethnic jewelry pieces, feathers, and carry a bag that let’s you be hands-free for dancing, such as a mini-knapsack, cross body, or bum bag – believe me there are cool ones out there if you shop around.

The best looks are original and detail-oriented making them fashion-forward and amp up the cool factor.  Check out these babes on Instagram for festival fashion inspo and get your style groove on:

Stay tuned for the Face This Festival Beauty Guide for the best makeup and hair coming up! #festivalstylegoals

How to Dress Like the French for your trip to Paris

Paris is always a good idea.  If you are planning on a Francophile fix this summer, it’s time to start thinking about your travel wardrobe that will have you looking like you just happen to throw these pieces on without a second thought, just as most French women would have you believe.  Look for updated classics that are feminine and laid back.  French women never, ever want to look like they are trying to look good but rather that it is their innate sense of style that gives them this chic sophistication.  The truth of the matter is, they work at it and build their wardrobe around quality, timeless, pieces they will wear for years to come.

Just like women everywhere, the French love jeans, but it is how they wear them that takes them up a notch.  If you are going into the countryside then wide-leg jeans worn with a fitted t-shirt and sandals is perfect, but a stroll through the Marais is another story.  Pair your jeans with a statement blouse or fitted boy’s blazer, and pair with a chic handbag and booties for the perfect casual but elevated daytime look.

Breton stripes are just about as French as it gets and most French women have multiples in their favorite fits and colors.  Wear a fitted striped shirt under a jacket with jeans, or a looser shirt with a skirt or wide-legged trouser.  Bonus points of you add a delicate piece of jewelry to amp up the femininity of this classic look.

Sightseeing doesn’t have to mean sneakers and a backpack to be confortable.  Summer is the perfect time to wear dresses and it just feels so right in Paris. Romance is not dead!  Pack a couple of dresses that will take you from the Louvre to the dinner on the Left Bank.  Look for pieces that flow and are comfortable and that can be worn with ballerinas or flats that are actually meant for a walking – your feet will thank you.

While a little cocktail dress is a wardrobe staple, look for something artful to amp up the style factor.  Peekaboo cutouts, fringe, and short hemlines are just the right sort of embellishment for a fun, flirty night on the town in the City of Lights.

A good coat that packs well and is as comfortable as a bathrobe is indispensible for travel to handle inclement weather or chilly A/C, or to just look pulled together.  But be honest: you just love to look like a star in a classic film noire movie.  It’s a good look.  Extra credit if it looks like it belongs to your French amour and you just borrowed it.

The secret is out and now you have it.  Parisian style is about sophistication, comfort, femininity, and insouciance, with a dash of romance.  Bon voyage!

Model Crush Monday – Hailey Baldwin

Glamour girl Hailey Baldwin has the classic good looks of an all-American beauty, and her modeling track record proves just how marketable that can be. Born in Tucson, Arizona to parents Stephen Baldwin and Kennya Deodato and into the Hollywood family of the Baldwin’s, has meant that much of Hailey’s life has been in front of the public eye.  Appearing along with her uncle Alec Baldwin hosting Saturday Night Live wasn’t your typical teen experience, nor was the presence of camera’s filming for reality television.

Twenty-year old Hailey has already racked up serious career highlights, from music videos, to fashion weeks, to TV and event hosting gigs, to campaigns, and numerous covers and editorials around the world, moving easily between commercial brands and high fashion.

Over the past four years, Hailey has fronted campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Guess, Tommy Hilfiger, UGG Footwear, H&M, Prabal Garung, and Sass & Bide, and has appeared on the covers and in editorials in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Wonderland, Lui Magazine, Elle, Teen Vogue, Marie Claire, Tatler, Love Magazine, L’Officiel, and Jalouse magazines.

Part of the tribe of celebrities' kids, Hailey is friends with Bella and Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Jaden and Willow Smith, all of them sharing a similar Hollywood background, and now making waves in the fashion and media worlds.

Hailey is currently working on a makeup collection with ModelCo, an Australian cosmetics company.  Making her mark in so many different fields, Hailey’s personal brand seems to have no limits in sight, and modeling might be merely a step along the way.

It’s GLOW TIME! The BEST Self-Tanners for the Ultimate Summer Glow!

The perfect summer glow is the best beauty look for warm weather and these Face This product picks couldn’t be easier to use, giving you a top to toe glow and sexy beach hair.

Face:  Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha-Beta Glow Pads are infused with vitamin D, and alpha and beta hydroxy acids to exfoliate and help clear the skin of sunspots and blackheads.  Apply using the odorless towelettes for a streak-free glow.

Hair:  Bumble & Bumble Surf Infusion spray gives the perfect texture to hair to make soft waves.  Spray the product on the palms of your hands and gently work it though sections of damp hair.  Either braid you hair or put it up into multiple small buns and then either air dry or blow dry on the lowest heat setting.  Let you hair down and brush with your fingers rather than a hairbrush.

Legs:  Yes of course you could simply use a body self tanner on your legs, but when there are products designed specifically to enhance your legs to make them look amazing, why wouldn’t you?  Start with Say Hello to Sexy Legs Tinted Glow Gel all over your legs and follow up with the Illuminating Fluid applied straight up the front and down the middle of the back of your legs to highlight them which visually lengthens them.  Admit it – you want this.

Body:  Easy application is key when you are trying to reach all of your body, and it is vital that the formula is streak-free so that you don’t leave telltale marks in spots you can’t see yourself.  Tarte Brazilliance Plus+ Self Tanner + Mitt uses proprietary odor-blocking ingredients, and it’s key ingredients exfoliate the skin as it tans, prepping it for a glow that lasts longer since it penetrates deeper into the skin.

Build up your tan over time, or just glow for a weekend.  No fuss, no streaks, no smell, easy application, and skin nourishing ingredients, with beach waves that are simple to do, means more time for summer fun instead worrying about how to achieve model-like beach beauty.  You’ve got this.

                                                             XOXO  Shelley
